Zelda's Lightning Friend

Ten-year-old Zelda sat by her fishbowl, watching her goldfish, Finnegan, swim in lazy circles. It was a stormy night, and rain tapped against her window like tiny fingers.

Suddenly, a flash of **lightning** illuminated the room, followed by a crack of thunder that shook the house. Zelda gasped as a spark of purple light jumped from her window to Finnegan's bowl.

"Finnegan!" she cried, reaching for her **iPhone** to use its flashlight.

But when the light hit the bowl, Zelda couldn't believe her eyes. Finnegan was floating at the top of the water, his scales shimmering with an iridescent glow. He wasn't moving - he looked almost like a magical **zombie** fish, suspended between sleep and wakefulness.

"Zelda..." a tiny voice bubbled up from the bowl.

She dropped her phone on her bed. "Finnegan? You can talk?"

"The lightning gave me magic powers," Finnegan said, doing a flip in the water. "I can grant three wishes! But you must use them wisely."

Zelda's heart raced with excitement. She thought about all the things she could wish for - toys, adventures, endless candy. But looking at Finnegan's friendly face, she made her choice.

"First wish," Zelda said carefully, "I wish that every pet in the world could talk to their owners."

Purple sparkles filled the room, and outside, she heard dogs barking actual words and cats meowing sentences.

"Second wish," Zelda continued, "I wish that storms would bring magic instead of scary noises."

Lightning flashed again, but this time it created beautiful rainbow bridges across the sky.

"For your last wish," Finnegan said, "remember that true friends need nothing extra to be happy."

Zelda smiled. "Then I wish that you stay my magical friend forever, but also that you swim freely in the ocean with other goldfish, visiting me whenever you want."

Tears of joy filled Finnegan's eyes. "You used your wishes to help others, not yourself. That's the greatest magic of all."

And so, whenever storms come, Zelda knows to look out her window. Lightning doesn't scare her anymore - it brings magic, friendship, and the sound of her dear friend Finnegan splashing in the rain, always ready for their next adventure together.
