Zara's Lightning Friend

Zara loved exploring behind her grandfather's old workshop. One rainy afternoon, she spotted something glowing near the pond. curious, she crept closer.

A strange creature sat by the water's edge, tangled in a thick orange cable. Its skin shimmered like moonlight on waves, and tiny bolts of lightning danced around its fingers. Zara had heard stories about zombies—scary monsters that wandered at night—but this creature looked sad, not scary.

"Are you okay?" Zara asked, staying behind a big oak tree just in case.

The creature looked up with eyes as blue as deep water. "I'm Zap," it said softly. "I'm not a zombie. I'm a Water Spirit from the Lightning Lake. I was trying to help fix the weather machine when I got tangled."

Zara stepped closer. The orange cable wasn't a trap—it was part of her grandfather's invention! "Why would you help?" she wondered.

"Because lightning and water work together to make the world beautiful," Zap explained. "Your grandfather's machine controls the rain for the farms. If it breaks, all the plants would die."

Zara's heart swelled with understanding. She had judged Zap without knowing his story. "I can help!" She rushed forward and carefully unwound the orange cable from Zap's shimmering arms.

"Thank you," Zap said, smiling as lightning crackled gently around him like sparklers. "Most children run away because I look different. You're the first who stayed."

"My grandma says true friends see with their hearts, not their eyes," Zara replied.

Together, they fixed the weather machine just as the first storm clouds gathered. Rain began to fall, nourishing the thirsty earth. Before Zap disappeared back into his magical lake, he left Zara a small gift—a necklace with a lightning bolt that glowed orange when true friends were near.

From that day on, Zara never judged anyone by their appearance. And whenever storms rolled through, she knew her friend was nearby, making magic happen with water and lightning, just as friends should help each other.
