When Stars Come Running
Lily loved the nighttime. Every night, she would press her nose against her bedroom window and watch the stars twinkle like tiny diamond crumbs scattered across dark velvet paper. But her favorite stars were the ones Grandma pointed out — the Great Bear constellation and the Bull constellation, always shining brightly on opposite sides of the sky.
One magical night, just as Lily was getting sleepy, something extraordinary happened. The stars began to wiggle and sparkle brighter than ever before. Then, suddenly, they started running — streaking across the sky like golden fireflies!
The Great Bear and the Bull stars rushed toward Lily's window, growing larger and more solid with each moment. Soon, a friendly bear made of twinkling starlight and a gentle bull glowing like moonbeams stood right there in her room!
"We've always wanted to meet you," said the Bear, his voice sounding like soft music. "We watch you every night, wishing on your wishing star."
"But we live so far apart in the sky," added the Bull, whose horns sparkled like frost. "Tonight, we decided to run all the way across the heavens just to become friends."
Lily's eyes grew wide with wonder. "You mean you ran ALL that way just to be together?"
"True friends will always find their way to each other," the Bear said wisely. "Sometimes it means running far, sometimes climbing high, and sometimes just being brave enough to say hello."
That night, Lily, the Bear, and the Bull danced around her room, leaving trails of sparkles wherever they stepped. They told funny stories about clouds and moonbeams, and Lily taught them about earth things like rainbows and butterflies.
As dawn approached, her star friends had to return to their places in the sky. But they promised that whenever Lily looked up and saw them shining, they would be winking back at her, remembering their magical night of running and friendship.
Now whenever Lily feels lonely or scared, she looks up at the night sky and remembers: the Bear and the Bull are always there, running across the heavens, reminding her that true friendship shines brightest, even in the darkest night.
