When My iPhone Woke the Sphinx
Maya's favorite place was her grandmother's attic, filled with dusty boxes and magical secrets. One rainy afternoon, while scrolling through games on her iPhone, the device began to glow with an strange golden light.
"What's happening?" Maya whispered, watching as her iPhone's screen transformed into a swirling portal of orange sparks.
The sparks danced through the air, forming the shape of a magnificent sphinx. But this wasn't like any sphinx she'd seen in books. This one had bright orange hair that flowed like liquid sunshine, and eyes that twinkled with ancient wisdom.
"Young one," the sphinx spoke, her voice sounding like wind through hollow reeds, "your magical device has awakened me from a thousand-year sleep. I am Cleopatra, guardian of the Riddle of Friendship."
Maya's hands trembled as she clutched her iPhone. "Are you real?"
"I am as real as the courage in your heart," Cleopatra replied. "Long ago, I was trapped inside an orange gemstone by a lonely sorcerer who couldn't solve my riddle. Only someone with a true friend's heart could free me."
The sphinx's orange hair shimmered as she continued. "You must answer my riddle: What is something you can give away while keeping it for yourself?"
Maya thought hard. She looked at her iPhone, then at the magical sphinx before her. She thought about her best friend Emma, how they shared everything, how giving made her feel happy too.
"Friendship!" Maya exclaimed. "When you're a friend to someone, you give them friendship, but you're still a friend yourself. It grows when you share it!"
Cleopatra's eyes sparkled with delight. The orange gemstone materialized in Maya's hands, cracking open to release a burst of golden butterflies.
"You have freed me," the sphinx said, "but you've also learned something important. True friendship multiplies when shared."
As Cleopatra faded back into magical sparks, she left Maya with a special gift—the ability to see the magic of friendship glowing around people who truly care about each other.
That night, Maya texted Emma on her iPhone: "I have the most amazing story to tell you about a sphinx with orange hair..." And from that day forward, whenever Maya saw the orange glow of friendship around someone, she knew it was a magic more powerful than any device could ever hold.
