When Lightning Sparked Zelda

Emma loved her goldfish Zelda more than anything. Zelda was orange like a sunset and had sparkly scales that shimmied when she swam around her little bowl. Emma would sit for hours watching Zelda glide through the water, dreaming they were having adventures together in the ocean.

One night, a terrible storm rolled in. Emma was worried about Zelda, so she moved the fishbowl to the windowsill to watch the show together. Thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy, and then—CRACK! The brightest bolt of lightning anyone had ever seen struck right outside Emma's window.

Emma covered her eyes, but when she looked back, Zelda was floating at the top of her bowl. Not moving. Not swimming.

"Zelda!" Emma cried. "Please wake up!"

She sprinkled some food flakes, but Zelda didn't wiggle. Emma burst into tears, her heart breaking like a dropped cookie.

But then—something magical happened. A tiny spark, still glowing from the lightning that had hit the window, danced through the glass and touched the water. Zelda's scales began to shimmer brighter than before. Her little fins twitched. Her eyes opened, glowing like tiny stars.

Zelda wasn't just alive again. She was magical.

"Emma!" Zelda bubbled, her voice sounding like underwater music. "I'm a zombie goldfish now, but not the scary kind. The lightning gave me special powers!"

Zelda leaped right out of her bowl and began swimming through the air, leaving sparkly trails everywhere she went. Emma laughed with pure joy as Zelda did loops and spins, gliding around the room like a little orange comet.

"Let's go on an adventure!" Zelda called.

That night, they swam through the sky together—Emma on her magical broomstick (her imagination made it real!), Zelda swimming beside her like a glowing fish in the ocean of stars. They visited the moon, said hello to sleeping birds, and even raced with the wind.

When morning came, Zelda settled back into her bowl, her magic quietly tucked away. But something had changed. Now, every night when Emma fell asleep, Zelda would swim through her dreams, and they would have adventures together forever.

Emma learned that sometimes, even sad things can turn into something wonderful. The lightning that seemed scary brought her the best gift of all—a friend who would swim through both water and dreams, forever by her side.
