When Lightning Danced in the Pool

Mia loved the community pool more than anything. Every Saturday morning, she'd arrive bright and early, her backpack filled with goggles, towels, and the special chewy **vitamin** her grandmother insisted she take before swimming.

"These aren't ordinary vitamins," Grandma would say, winking. "They're filled with storm magic from when I was little like you."

Mia never quite believed her—until the day everything changed.

It was a cloudy Saturday. Mia sat on the pool's edge, dangling her feet in the cool water. Suddenly, the sky turned dark purple. A magnificent bolt of **lightning** cracked across the horizon, followed by the loudest thunder she'd ever heard.

The lifeguard blew her whistle. "Everyone out! Storm's coming!"

But Mia couldn't move. Her feet tingled strangely where they touched the water. She looked down and gasped. Where her feet dipped beneath the surface, the pool was glowing—a soft, shimmering blue.

Another lightning bolt flashed. This time, it struck the pool's water directly!

Mia squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the splash, the shock. But instead, she felt warm and tingly all over. When she opened her eyes, she wasn't sitting on the pool's edge anymore.

She was floating INSIDE the water, yet she could breathe!

Sparkling fish with tails like tiny lightning bolts swam around her. A mermaid with hair like storm clouds approached, smiling.

"You took the storm vitamin," she said, her voice like gentle waves. "Only the chosen ones can visit our world during storms."

Mia spent the most magical hour of her life learning about the Lightning Kingdom beneath the pool. The mermaid showed her coral gardens that glowed with trapped storm energy, and schools of fish that left tiny lightning trails as they swam.

"Will you come back?" the mermaid asked as the storm passed.

"Every Saturday," Mia promised.

As the last thunder rumbled away, Mia found herself back on the pool's edge, her towel exactly where she'd left it. Grandma's vitamin bottle glowed faintly in her bag.

Mia smiled, understanding now. Some vitamins don't just make you strong—they make you magical.
