When Lightning Brought a Friend

Leo sat by his window, watching the dark clouds gather. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy, and he counted the seconds until the first flash of lightning would streak across the sky.

"One, two, three..." Leo whispered.

Suddenly, the whole sky turned bright as day! A jagged bolt of lightning cracked open the heavens, and something small and furry fell right into Leo's backyard garden.

Leo rushed outside in his yellow rainboots. There, shivering under the rosebush, was the most beautiful cat he had ever seen. Her fur shimmered like silver moonlight, and her eyes glowed golden like tiny suns.

"I'm here, little friend," Leo whispered, wrapping her trembling body in his favorite blue blanket.

The cat purred softly and nudged Leo's hand with her warm nose. But then something magical happened—sparks of blue light danced from her fur! They floated up like fireflies, spelling out words in the air: THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS.

"Whoa!" Leo gasped. "You're a magic cat!"

The cat blinked and more sparks appeared. MY NAME IS SPARK. I LIVE IN THE LIGHTNING. I FELL DURING THE STORM.

"Will you stay?" Leo asked, his heart hopeful. "I've never had a friend before."

Spark purred louder, rubbing her cheek against Leo's. The blue sparks swirled around them both, creating tiny pictures in the air—two friends playing together, exploring, sharing adventures.

Just then, another bolt of lightning flashed. Spark's fur grew even brighter, like she was charging up like a battery.

"I have an idea!" Leo grabbed his umbrella. "Let's go on an adventure in the rain!"

Together, Leo and Spark splashed through puddles, danced in the downpour, and watched the lightning create beautiful patterns in the sky. Each flash made Spark's fur sparkle more brilliantly.

That night, Spark curled up at the foot of Leo's bed. As Leo drifted off to sleep, he understood something important: sometimes the best friends come when you least expect them, and even scary storms can bring wonderful surprises.

And every time lightning flashed, Leo knew his magical cat friend was smiling at him from the clouds, reminding him that kindness and friendship can shine brighter than any storm.
