When Baseballs Dream of Swimming
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park, even though his mom always reminded him to take his vitamin first. One particularly hot afternoon, Leo's best friend Sam sat on the bench instead of playing.
"I'm too tired today," Sam sighed, leaning his chin on his hands. "Even running to first base feels like climbing a mountain."
Leo's mom had given him a new kind of vitamin that morning — bright orange ones that tasted like sunshine. "Take these every day," she'd said. "They're full of energy and magic."
Magic! That gave Leo an idea. "What if the baseball field is too ordinary?" Leo whispered, his eyes sparkling. "What if we need somewhere... magical?"
Behind the old playground, deep in the woods where the trees whispered secrets, there was a pool that nobody ever talked about. Leo had found it once while chasing a butterfly. The water sparkled like diamonds, and sometimes, if you listened closely, you could hear it humming.
"Come on!" Leo grabbed Sam's hand, and together they went running through the tall grass, their sneakers crunching on fallen leaves. The forest grew dim and mysterious around them.
There it was — the secret pool, shimmering with an otherworldly glow. But what made Leo gasp wasn't the water. Floating in the middle of the pool were dozens of baseballs, all bobbing gently like they were swimming.
"The baseballs are dreaming!" Sam whispered, suddenly wide awake. "They're practicing for when they fly through the air!"
Leo pulled the magic vitamin from his pocket. He tossed it into the pool. *Splash!* Then he grabbed Sam's baseball from his bag and threw it in too.
Suddenly, the water began to swirl with rainbows. The baseballs leaped from the pool, circling around the two friends like magical birds. Sam jumped up, catching one, and suddenly he wasn't tired anymore. He felt light as a feather, strong as a superhero.
"The magic!" Sam laughed. "The vitamin made the pool show us what baseballs really dream about!"
From that day on, Leo and Sam visited the secret pool whenever they needed a little magic. And every time Leo took his vitamin, he'd wink at Sam, because they both knew the truth — the real magic wasn't just in the vitamin, but in believing that anything, even baseballs, could dream extraordinary dreams.
