The Zombie With Orange Hair
Zara wasn't like other zombies. While they stumbled around groaning for brains, Zara spent her mornings in the garden, talking to flowers and humming soft songs. Her wild hair wasn't gray and stringy like the others—it glowed a brilliant orange, like sunshine captured in tangled curls.
One day, an enormous bull came thundering through the graveyard. His horns were twisted like lightning bolts, and his hooves left sparks wherever they stepped. All the other zombies hid, moaning in fear. But Zara stepped forward, her orange hair blazing like a beacon.
"Hello, Mr. Bull," she said kindly. "You look hungry. Would you like some pumpkins?"
The bull stopped. He'd never met a zombie who offered food instead of running away. His brown eyes softened. "I'm not hungry for food," he rumbled gently. "I'm looking for something I lost. My magical orange hair comb. It has the power to make anyone smile."
Zara gasped. She knew exactly where it was! Her grandmother had given it to her years ago, before she became different. "I have it!" she cried. "It's in my cave. But... the other zombies make fun of me for keeping pretty things."
The bull lowered his massive head. "Sometimes, being different means being special. Come with me, little zombie. I'll show you."
Together they walked to her cave, passing zombies who stared in awe. When Zara held up the orange comb, it glowed brighter than her hair. As she combed the bull's mane, sparks of orange light floated around them. Every zombie who watched suddenly smiled—some for the first time in centuries.
"You see," said the bull, "your kindness is stronger than any curse. Your orange hair isn't strange. It's magic."
That day, Zara learned that being yourself is the greatest magic of all. And from then on, every zombie in the graveyard had a little more color in their cheeks—and a little more joy in their hearts.
