The Zombie with Orange Hair
Lily was the only girl in her class with bright orange hair. It poufed out like a fluffy cloud, and sometimes she wished it could just be ordinary brown like everyone else's.
One afternoon, while walking home through the Whispering Woods, Lily heard a strange sound: *shhh-shhh-shhh.* She peeked behind an old oak tree and gasped.
There sat a zombie! But this wasn't like the scary ones in movies. He was small, about Lily's size, with patchy green skin and the wildest, messiest orange hair she had ever seen – even wilder than hers!
The zombie sniffled. A single orange tear rolled down his cheek.
"Hello?" Lily whispered bravely.
The zombie jumped. "Oh! I mean... uhhh... brains?" He tried to look scary but ended up looking silly.
"I'm Lily," she said. "What's your name?"
"Zim," the zombie mumbled. "But everyone runs away when they see me. They say I'm too weird."
Lily stepped closer. "You have orange hair too!"
Zim's eyes widened. "Really?"
She nodded and sat beside him. "Mine gets poufy when I'm happy. When does yours get crazy?"
"When I'm lonely," Zim admitted. "It just *poofs* all by itself."
Lily giggled. Zim giggled too. And suddenly, both of their orange hair began to glow and float upward like two fuzzy suns!
"Whoa!" Zim gasped. "Your hair is magical!"
"So is yours!" Lily said. "Want to be friends?"
Zim grinned, and his orange hair formed into the shape of a heart. "Yes!"
From that day on, Lily and Zim were best friends. She learned that Zim wasn't a scary zombie – he was just a lonely kid who happened to be green. And Zim learned that having wild orange hair wasn't weird at all. It was what made them special.
Sometimes the most wonderful friendships come from the most unexpected places. And whether your hair is orange, brown, green, or purple – what matters most is the heart underneath.
