The Zombie Who Wasn't Scary

Lily loved running through the magical forest behind her house, her bare feet padding softly on mossy paths. One sunny afternoon, she heard a sad sound coming from behind the biggest palm tree she had ever seen.

Curious, Lily peeked around the trunk and gasped. A small green creature sat there, his head drooping. He looked like the zombies from storybooks, but somehow different—gentler.

"I'm a zombbean," he said, not looking up. "But I'm losing my magic. My skin used to be bright green, and I could make flowers bloom just by smiling. Now I'm fading away."

Lily's grandmother had told her about zombbeans—magical creatures who brought joy to the forest. This one looked pale and weak, like a wilting flower.

"What do you need?" Lily asked, sitting beside him.

"The Sunlight Vitamin," he whispered. "It grows at the very top of this palm tree, but I'm too tired to climb."

Lily looked up. The palm tree stretched endlessly upward, its crown touching the clouds. But she saw something glowing near the top—a golden fruit that pulsed with warmth.

"I'll get it for you!" Lily declared.

She climbed higher and higher, her arms strong from all her running adventures. Finally, she reached the glowing vitamin—a magical fruit that shone like captured sunshine. She plucked it carefully and scrambled down, her heart pounding with excitement.

The zombbean ate the Sunlight Vitamin in one bite. Instantly, his pale skin turned bright green again. He jumped up, dancing with joy, and flowers sprouted everywhere his feet touched the ground.

"Thank you!" he cheered. "You're my best friend!"

From that day on, Lily and the zombbean had wonderful adventures together. She learned that true friends help each other, even when things seem scary at first. And sometimes, the most surprising friendships are the best ones of all.

Every afternoon, you could still see them running through the forest—a girl and her magical zombbean friend, spreading happiness wherever they went.
