The Zombie Who Wanted to Play
Lily and Max were best friends who loved trying new things. Every Saturday, they would explore the community center together. This Saturday was extra special.
"Let's play **baseball** first!" said Max, grabbing his favorite bat. He loved the sound when the ball hit the bat — CRACK! Like thunder in a summer storm.
Lily smiled. She was the pitcher, and she could throw a mean curveball. They played until their arms were tired, then headed toward the swimming **pool** to cool off.
But something strange was happening near the water. A green figure was walking slowly, arms outstretched, making a funny moaning sound.
"Is that a... **zombie**?" whispered Lily, hiding behind Max.
But this zombie wasn't scary at all. It was wearing bright pink swim goggles and a funny polka-dot swimming cap. The zombie moaned sadly: "Waaant to... plaaay?"
Lily and Max looked at each other and giggled. The zombie just wanted friends!
"We're playing **padel** next," said Max bravely. "Do you want to join?"
The zombie's face lit up. Lily found an extra racket and tossed it gently. The zombie caught it perfectly!
To their surprise, the zombie was amazing at padel. With every hit, the zombie spun around and did a little happy dance. Lily and Max laughed so hard their tummies hurt. This wasn't a monster at all — just someone who had been lonely and wanted to play.
After the game, they all jumped into the pool together. The zombie splashed everywhere like a happy frog, creating the biggest waves they had ever seen.
"My name is Zara," the zombie finally said, grinning. "I've been watching you play for weeks, but I was too shy to say hello."
"You should have just asked!" said Lily. "We're always looking for new friends."
That day, they learned something magical: sometimes the things that seem scary are just lonely hearts waiting for friendship. And sometimes, the best adventures start with being brave enough to say "hello."
Every Saturday after that, Zara, Lily, and Max played together — baseball, padel, swimming, and whatever else they could imagine. And they all lived happily ever after, splashing, playing, and laughing under the warm sun.
