The Zombie Who Needed Vitamins

Lily loved her morning vitamins. Every day, she'd pick the orange one shaped like a little star, and her mom would say, "These give you super powers!" Lily would run around the house afterward, zooming like a rocket ship, convinced the vitamins were magic.

One Saturday, Lily built a giant pyramid in the living room using every cushion and pillow she could find. It had three layers, just like the real pyramids she'd seen in books. She was the queen of her pyramid kingdom.

"Queen Lily needs her royal vitamins!" she announced, standing on top of her pillow pyramid.

Just then, something shuffled through the back door. It was greenish-gray, moved super slowly, and groaned, "Viiiitamins..."

Lily's eyes went wide. A zombie! But this zombie didn't look scary – it looked tired. Its arms drooped, its head lolled to the side, and it bumped into the doorframe.

"Are you a real zombie?" Lily asked, climbing down from her pyramid.

"I'm Zomby," the zombie said sadly. "I haven't had my vitamins in one hundred years. That's why I'm so slow and grumpy. All the other zombies got theirs, but I got lost."

Lily's heart went out to him. "Mom says vitamins give you super powers!"

She ran to the kitchen, grabbed her vitamin bottle, and shook out two star-shaped orange tablets. One for her, one for Zomby.

Zomby's eyes widened. "For me?"

Lily nodded solemnly. "Every queen's subject deserves vitamins!"

Zomby took the vitamin and – WHOOSH! His greenish-gray skin turned a healthy pink. He stood up straight and tall. He zoomed around the room, faster than Lily!

"Super powers!" Zomby cheered. "Now I can build pyramids too!"

Together, Lily and Zomby built an even bigger pyramid, reaching all the way to the ceiling. They were the fastest, strongest pyramid builders in the world.

"You know," Zomby said, "I think the magic wasn't just in the vitamins. It was in making a new friend."

Lily smiled. "That's the best super power of all."
