The Zombie Who Needed Sunshine

Luna loved running through the sunny park, her bare feet padding softly on the warm grass. Every day after school, she'd race the wind until her cheeks turned pink and her heart felt like a happy drum beating inside her chest.

One afternoon, she noticed something strange under the oldest palm tree in the park. A small green creature sat slumped against the trunk, looking sadder than anything Luna had ever seen. It had patchy hair, button eyes, and the goofiest grin – even though it wasn't grinning at all.

"Are you... a zombie?" Luna asked, slowing to a stop.

The zombie nodded slowly. "Benny," it mumbled. "I'm supposed to be scary, but I'm not very good at it."

Luna sat beside him. "Why are you so sad?"

Benny sighed. "I need special zombie vitamins. Without them, I'm too tired to even moan properly. But I don't know where to find them."

Luna's eyes lit up. "I know about vitamins! My mom says the best vitamin comes from sunshine and playing. Want to try running with me?"

Benny looked doubtful. "Zombies don't run. We shuffle."

"That's okay! We'll shuffle-run together!"

Hand in hand – well, hand in leafy green hand – they moved through the park. At first, Benny barely lifted his feet. But as the golden afternoon sun beamed down on them, something magical happened. Benny's shuffle became a skip. Then a hop. Then a genuine, clumsy run.

"I'm RUNNING!" Benny cheered, his button eyes sparkling. "And look!" He held up his hands. His green skin was turning a healthy, rosy color.

"The sunshine vitamin!" Luna laughed. They ran all the way to the palm tree and back, until they both collapsed in giggles on the soft grass.

Every day after school, Luna and Benny would run together under the palm tree. And Benny? He became the happiest, healthiest zombie in the whole world – still a little goofy, but now he never forgot his daily dose of friendship and sunshine.
