The Zombie Who Needed a Friend
In the town of Willowbrook, lived a girl named Lily with the curliest, bounciest bright red hair anyone had ever seen. Her hair had a magical quality – it would twitch and wiggle whenever adventure was near!
One day, Lily's hair gave a giant TWITCH! She followed it to the edge of the Whispering Woods, where she spotted a sad green creature sitting alone on a mushroom.
"Are you... a zombie?" Lily asked bravely.
The creature sniffled. "Everyone calls me that because I'm green and I walk slowly. But I'm not scary. I'm just Zebby, and I'm very lonely."
Zebby's shoulders drooped. He explained that he'd been walking slowly for weeks because he felt tired all the time. The other creatures were afraid of his green skin, so they ran away whenever he came near.
Lily's curly hair gave an excited wiggle. "I know what you need!"
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a shiny orange gummy shaped like a star. "This is a sunshine vitamin! My grandmother makes them from morning dew and happy thoughts. One chew, and you'll feel strong and energetic!"
Zebby's eyes widened. He'd never had a friend offer him anything before. He popped the vitamin into his mouth and...
WHOOSH!
Zebby's green skin started to glow. He jumped up and did a happy dance. "I feel AMAZING!"
"Now you're not a zombie anymore," Lily laughed. "You're Zebby the Zooming Zebra-Green!"
Zebby zoomed around the meadow, showing off his new energy. Other creatures peeked out from behind trees. When they saw how happy and friendly Zebby was, they came out to play.
Soon, Zebby had more friends than he could count. And Lily's hair gave one final happy wiggle, because it knew the best magic of all wasn't in any vitamin – it was in the power of kindness and friendship.
From that day on, whenever anyone in Willowbrook felt lonely or tired, Lily would share her sunshine vitamins and her friendship. Because sometimes, all a "zombie" really needs is one person brave enough to say hello.
