The Zombie Who Needed a Friend
Lily found the old cable behind her dresser. It sparkled with tiny rainbows. "What do you do?" she whispered.
That night, she plugged it into her TV. But instead of cartoons, the screen showed a strange purple world. And there—stomping around—was a zombie!
He had messy green hair sticking everywhere and looked so lonely. He shuffled through purple flowers, kicking at stones. No friends. No fun. Just alone.
Then Lily saw something magical. A tiny goldfish was swimming THROUGH THE AIR beside him! The goldfish glowed like a little golden moon, leaving sparkly bubbles everywhere.
The zombie couldn't see it. But the goldfish was trying to help!
Lily pressed her hand against the screen. "I can help!"
The cable hummed. WHOOSH! She tumbled right into the purple world!
The zombie jumped. His green hair bounced. "You—you can see me?"
"I'm Lily!" She pointed at the glowing goldfish. "And HE's been trying to get your attention!"
The zombie gasped. The goldfish swam closer, its scales shimmering. A bubble popped: *Be my friend!*
"Nobody ever wants to be my friend," the zombie said sadly. "I'm too weird."
"Weird is WONDERFUL!" Lily grabbed his hand. "Come play!"
They spent the whole afternoon playing tag with the magical goldfish, who created beautiful rainbow bubbles for them to chase. The zombie laughed so much his green hair shook.
"I'm Zomby," he said finally. "And this is Goldie. She's been my friend forever. I just didn't know it."
Lily hugged them both. "Sometimes we have friends all along and don't even see them."
When it was time to go, Zomby gave her a sparkly cable hair tie made from his own magical hair. "Now you can visit whenever!"
Lily waved goodbye and tumbled back through her TV. The goldfish's golden glow followed her home, living now in her fishbowl, a reminder that the best friends sometimes come from the most unexpected places.
And every night, Lily looks at her sparkling cable hair tie and smiles, knowing somewhere in a purple world, Zomby and Goldie are playing too.
