The Zombie Who Loved Water

Lily loved her iPhone more than anything. It wasn't for games or videos—it was for her special magic photography app. Her grandmother had given it to her, saying, "This camera sees what others miss."

One hot afternoon, Lily walked to the old pond behind her house. The sun made the water sparkle like diamonds. She raised her iPhone to capture the glimmering surface when something shuffled out from behind the weeping willow.

It looked like a zombie! Green skin, messy hair, slow-moving arms. Lily almost ran, but something made her stay. The zombie didn't look scary—just sad.

"Are you okay?" Lily called out softly.

The zombie blinked slowly. "Water," it croaked. "Need water."

Lily's curiosity beat her fear. She held up her iPhone, clicked a photo, and gasped. Through her magic camera, the zombie wasn't a monster at all—it was a Water Guardian, covered in pond mud and dried algae, completely separated from its home element.

"You're not a zombie!" Lily exclaimed. "You're a magical creature who needs water!"

The Guardian's eyes lit up. Lily guided it to the pond's edge. As the water touched the Guardian's feet, the mud and algae washed away. Green scales shimmered like emeralds. What looked like messy hair became flowing seaweed. The slow movements became graceful swimming.

The Guardian dove deep, then surfaced with a splash. "Thank you, little friend. I was stuck on land for three days. My magic grows weak without water."

From that day on, Lily visited the pond every evening. The Water Guardian taught her to speak bubble-language and showed her secret underwater caves filled with glowing crystals. In return, Lily took photos of all the magical creatures her iPhone camera could capture.

Sometimes, what looks scary is just something that needs help. And sometimes, the best friends are the ones you almost ran away from.

Lily learned that magic exists everywhere—you just need the right heart to see it.
