The Zombie Who Loved to Swim
Lily was the best spy in her whole neighborhood. She wore special sunglasses and carried a magnifying glass everywhere. One day, while spying on the old oak tree in her backyard, she saw something strange.
A green figure was hiding behind the tree! Lily crept closer. The figure had messy purple hair that stuck up like purple grass. It was a zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He wore colorful shorts and carried a bright orange swim ring.
"Are you going to eat my brain?" Lily asked, clutching her magnifying glass.
The zombie shook his head. "No! I'm Zim. I just moved here. I saw your pool and I love swimming more than anything."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "You swim? But you're a zombie!"
"Even zombies love splashing," Zim said with a smile. "Will you be my friend?"
Lily thought about what her mother said: never judge someone by how they look. She grinned. "I'm Lily, the best spy around. Want to see my secret swimming spot?"
Zim's purple hair bounced as he nodded excitedly.
That afternoon, Lily and her new friend spent hours swimming and playing water games. Zim was the most fun friend ever! He could stay underwater forever without coming up for air.
At dinner, Lily told her parents about Zim. "He looks different, but he's kind on the inside. That's what matters, right?"
Her father smiled. "That's right, sweetheart. The best friends often come in surprising packages."
The next day, Lily invited Zim to join her spy club. Together, they had the most amazing adventures. And every afternoon, they went swimming together, splashing and laughing until the sun went down.
Lily learned something important that summer: true friendship isn't about how someone looks. It's about kindness, fun, and being there for each other. Sometimes the best friends are the ones you least expect — even if they happen to be zombies who love to swim!
