The Zombie Who Loved to Splash
Max had a secret. His best friend wasn't a boy or a girl from school. It was a tiny **zombie** named Ziggly who lived in a jar on his nightstand.
Ziggly wasn't scary at all. He was only three inches tall, with bright green skin and a smile like a crescent moon. Every night, Max would whisper stories to him, and Ziggly would wiggle his ears excitedly.
One hot July afternoon, Max came home from **baseball** practice feeling sad. He'd missed the winning catch during the big game. "I'm just not good enough," he whispered, tears in his eyes.
That night, something magical happened. Ziggly began to glow! He grew until he was Max's size, and together they slipped out the window.
"Where are we going?" Max asked.
Ziggly pointed to the community pool. "I want to learn **swimming**!"
The pool was empty under the moonlight. Ziggly dipped one foot in, then the other. Splash! He cannonballed into the deep end, but instead of sinking, he floated like a green cork. Max giggled and jumped in too.
For hours, they played. Ziggly showed Max that mistakes were just another way to learn. "See?" Ziggly said, doing a silly backflip. "I can't dive perfectly, but I make the biggest splashes!"
Suddenly, something shimmered in the water. It was a golden **goldfish** wearing a tiny crown!
"I'm King Fin!" the goldfish bubbled. "And you two are the bravest friends I've seen. True friends aren't about being perfect—they're about having fun together."
Max smiled, understanding now. Baseball wasn't about being the best player. It was about teamwork, laughter, and trying your best.
As the sun began to rise, Ziggly shrank back to his tiny size and swam home in his jar. Max knew tomorrow's game would be different—not because he'd catch every ball, but because he'd play with joy in his heart.
And sometimes, when Max looked closely at Ziggly's jar, he could still see tiny ripples, as if a little green zombie and a crowned goldfish were having midnight swimming races.
