The Zombie Who Loved the Sea

Leo sat beneath the swaying palm tree, watching the waves crash against the shore. He wanted to play in the water, but the ocean looked so big and scary. His toes wiggled in the warm sand, but he didn't dare step closer.

Suddenly, something green and bubbly rose from the foam. Leo held his breath as a creature stumbled onto the beach. It had seaweed hair, coral teeth, and walked with a funny wobble. The villagers called it the zombie of the deep, and Leo had heard all the scary stories.

"Greetings!" the creature called, its voice sounding like happy bubbles popping. "I'm Ziggy!"

Leo blinked. Ziggy didn't seem scary at all. In fact, the zombie was wearing a tiny hat made from a clam shell and had the friendliest smile Leo had ever seen.

"I'm not supposed to talk to zombies," Leo said, clutching his knees.

Ziggy's smile faded. "People think I'm scary because I look different. But I'm just the guardian of the ocean. I keep the little fish safe and make sure the waves dance beautifully."

The zombie reached into the water and pulled out a glowing seashell. "Would you like to see something magical?"

Leo nodded slowly. Ziggy held the shell to Leo's ear, and suddenly Leo could hear singing — mermaids singing lullabies to their babies, whales telling ancient stories, and dolphins laughing as they played.

"The ocean isn't scary," Ziggy said gently. "It's full of friends and songs. But you have to be brave enough to listen."

Leo looked at the water with new eyes. It wasn't a scary monster anymore. It was a beautiful world waiting to be explored. He stood up and took Ziggy's offered hand.

"Will you be my friend?" Leo asked.

"Always," the zombie promised.

Together, they walked into the water. Leo discovered a world of wonder, and he learned that true friends can come in the most unexpected packages. Sometimes, the things we fear are just friends we haven't met yet.
