The Zombie Who Loved Swimming
Lily had the most unusual hair in the entire village. It shimmered like rainbow soap bubbles and changed color with her mood—pink when she was happy, blue when she was sad, and sparkly purple when she felt excited. But Lily kept her magical hair hidden under a big hat, because the other children thought it was strange.
One hot summer afternoon, Lily sneaked away to the secret swimming hole deep in Whispering Woods. The water was crystal clear, and lily pads floated like green islands. Lily was just about to dive in when she heard a splash.
Something green and lumpy emerged from the water. It had patches all over its body and moved slowly, like it was still waking up from a very long nap.
"A zombie!" Lily gasped, but she didn't run away. Instead, she noticed something wonderful—the creature was wearing colorful floaties around its arms.
"I'm not a zombie," the creature said shyly. "I'm Zim, the swamp guardian. I just look a bit bumpy because I'm covered in helpful moss."
Zim explained that everyone was afraid of him because of how he looked, so he spent most of his time alone in the swimming hole. Lily felt sad remembering how she hid her hair.
"I have magical hair," Lily whispered, removing her hat. "It glows underwater."
Zim's eyes widened. "Show me!"
Together, they swam deep into the magical pond. Lily's hair illuminated the underwater world like a living rainbow—glowing fish danced around them, and the water itself sparkled with tiny stars. Zim was the most graceful swimmer Lily had ever seen.
"You're not scary at all," Lily said. "You're magical, just like my hair."
From that day on, Lily and Zim were best friends. She taught the village children that Zim was a kind guardian who protected the forest. The children stopped being afraid and started joining their swimming adventures instead.
Lily learned that being different was what made her special. And Zim learned that sometimes, all it takes is one brave friend to help others see the magic inside everyone.
