The Zombie Who Loved Papayas
Lily's golden retriever Max barked at something strange behind the papaya tree. Lily peeked through the leaves and gasped.
A little green figure shuffled slowly through the garden. His skin was the color of old spinach leaves, and his eyes looked sleepy and sad.
"Is that a zombie?" Lily whispered, remembering scary stories.
But Max wagged his tail and approached the creature. The zombie didn't scare anyone - he looked scared himself!
Lily stepped closer. "Hello? Are you lost?"
The zombie nodded slowly. His whole body drooped like a wilted flower. He pointed weakly at the papaya tree, then at his mouth.
"You're hungry!" Lily realized. She picked the ripest papaya and some fresh spinach from her mother's garden. The zombie's eyes widened as he ate. Something magical happened - with every bite, his green skin turned warmer and healthier. His sleepy eyes sparkled.
"Thank you," he said, his voice growing stronger. "I'm Finn. I've been lost in this magical garden for so long. Everything here needs friendship to grow strong."
Lily smiled. "You're not scary at all. You're just hungry and lonely."
Finn grinned. "Will you be my friend?"
"Yes!" Lily hugged him. Max barked happily, dancing around them.
Every day after school, Lily brought Finn papayas and spinach. Together, they planted new seeds and sang to the garden. Other lost creatures appeared - lonely rabbits, shy squirrels, even a grumpy old turtle who just needed someone to talk to.
Lily learned that scary things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes, they just need a little food, a little care, and a lot of friendship to show their true colors.
The garden flourished with laughter. And Lily, Finn, and Max became the best of friends, proving that the strongest magic of all is kindness.
