The Zombie Who Loved Padel

hairzombiepadelpalmspy

Lily had the most extraordinary hair—bright purple curls that bounced when she walked and sometimes even seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. Every morning, she spent hours brushing them, wondering if her hair had magical powers.

One day, while playing behind the old palm tree near the beach, Lily heard strange sounds. Groan, shuffle, THUMP. Her heart raced. Was it the zombie everyone in town whispered about? The mysterious creature that only came out at dusk?

Lily decided to be a spy. She crept closer, hiding behind palm fronds, her purple curls barely peeking out. What she saw made her gasp.

The zombie wasn't scary at all. He was a round, green fellow with messy hair and kind eyes. And in his hands? A padel racket! He was practicing alone against an old wall, hitting a ball with surprising grace. Bounce, swing, hit. Bounce, swing, hit.

"You're really good!" Lily exclaimed before she could stop herself.

The zombie jumped. His skin turned from green to pink! "Oh no," he said sadly. "Everyone will be afraid."

"I'm not," Lily stepped forward. "I'm Lily, and I love padel too! Want to play?"

The zombie's face lit up. "I'm Zimby. I've wanted to play with someone for so long! But everyone runs away when they see me."

"They don't know you like I do now," Lily said wisely. "Sometimes the things we think are scary are just lonely and want friends."

Under the palm tree, Lily and Zimby played padel until sunset. Her purple curls and his green face both glowed with joy. The real spy work, Lily discovered, wasn't about secrets—it was about finding the truth beneath appearances.

And the truth? Sometimes zombies aren't monsters. Sometimes they're just someone who wants to play padel and make friends, too.
