The Zombie Who Loved Padel
Lila loved running through the sunshine, her bare feet patting against the warm ground. Every afternoon, she'd grab her padel racket and rush to the old court behind her house. The court sat right next to a giant palm tree that whispered secrets in the wind.
One day, while Lila was practicing her serves against the wall, she heard a strange sound. *Thump. Drag. Thump.* She peeked around the palm tree and gasped.
A zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He wore ragged clothes and had messy green hair, but his eyes were kind and sad. He held an old, rusty padel racket.
"Do you... want to play?" Lila asked bravely.
The zombie's face lit up. He nodded enthusiastically!
"I'm Zog," he tried to say, though it came out as a friendly groan.
They started running around the court, hitting the ball back and forth. Zog was surprisingly good! Every time he scored, he'd do a little dance that made Lila giggle.
"Why were you hiding?" Lila asked during a break.
Zog pointed to the village beyond the palm trees. Then he hung his head sadly. Everyone had been afraid of him because of how he looked.
"That's not fair," Lila said firmly. "You're my friend now, and friends stick together."
She took his hand—his palm was cool but gentle—and led him toward the village. "You're going to show everyone how amazing you are at padel!"
When they arrived, the villagers were scared at first. But then Zog smiled his warm smile and started hitting padel balls with incredible skill. Children gathered around, cheering. Soon, everyone wanted to be Zog's friend.
That night, as Lila sat beneath the whispering palm tree with Zog, she learned something important: sometimes the scariest-looking people just need someone to give them a chance. And a good game of padel helps too!
