The Zombie Who Loved Padel

Lily and Tom were best friends who lived near the magical Blue Water Lagoon. Every day after school, they would race to the old papaya tree that grew beside the shimmering blue water. The papayas there were special — they glowed golden at sunset and tasted like sunshine mixed with dreams.

One afternoon, while they were playing padel against the garden wall, something strange happened. Padel was their favorite game, hitting the ball back and forth until they were too tired to laugh anymore. But this time, the ball bounced over the wall and into the mysterious fog beyond their village.

"I'll get it!" Lily said bravely.

She crawled through the bushes and found herself face to face with a zombie!

But this wasn't a scary zombie like in stories. He was green and patchy, yes, but he wore a colorful flower crown and was juggling three papayas. When he saw Lily, he didn't moan. He waved!

"Hello!" said the zombie, whose name was Zeb. "I've watched you play padel for weeks. It looks like fun!"

Lily called Tom over, and soon they were all playing padel together — Zeb was surprisingly good, even if he moved a bit slowly and sometimes his arm fell off during a good swing.

"Why do you live alone in the fog?" Tom asked during a water break.

Zeb sighed. "Everyone thinks zombies are scary. But I'm just lonely. I love papaya, and I've always wanted to play padel."

Lily had an idea. "Come with us! We'll show everyone that you're kind."

The next day, Zeb came to the village. At first, people hid behind doors. But when they saw him playing padel with the children, sharing papayas, and helping little kids learn to hit the ball, something magical happened. Fear turned to friendship.

Zeb wasn't a monster. He was just someone who needed a friend.

That night, as the magical blue water reflected the stars, the whole village played padel together. And from that day on, everyone learned an important lesson: never judge someone by how they look. True friends are found in the most unexpected places, and sometimes the scariest-looking people have the kindest hearts.
