The Zombie Who Loved Padel
Lily had the most extraordinary purple hair that bounced when she walked. She lived in a house where magic hid in every corner, and she was the neighborhood's youngest spy—a title she gave herself because she loved solving mysteries.
One afternoon, Lily's iPhone buzzed with a strange message: "Help needed at the old padel court. Come alone."
Lily grabbed her magnifying glass and tiptoed to the abandoned court behind the park. Padel was her favorite game, like tennis but with a smaller court and walls you could hit the ball against. But nobody had played here in years.
Something moved in the shadows. Lily's heart raced as a figure emerged—slowly, with arms stretched out.
"A zombie!" Lily gasped, hiding behind a bench.
But this zombie didn't look scary. He had green skin, yes, and messy hair like Lily's, but he held a padel racquet and looked... sad.
"Are you going to eat brains?" Lily squeaked.
The zombie shook his head slowly. "No. I just want to play padel. Everyone runs away before I can explain."
Lily stepped forward. "You're not a monster?"
"I'm Zog," he said, his voice sounding like leaves rustling. "I'm not even a real zombie. I'm a magical creature from the Rainbow Realm. I move slowly because time moves differently there. I just wanted to make friends."
Lily's purple hair sparkled with excitement. "I'll be your friend! And I'll teach you padel!"
For weeks, Lily and Zog played padel every evening. Zog's slow movements actually made him an amazing player—he could predict exactly where the ball would go. Other kids started watching, and soon, everyone wanted to play with the friendly zombie who loved padel.
Lily learned an important lesson that summer: sometimes the scariest things are just the most misunderstood. And with a little courage and an open heart, you can find magic in the most unexpected places.
Even in a zombie who loves padel.
