The Zombie Who Loved Padel

Lily's wild red hair bounced as she ran to the park, clutching her dad's old iphone. She wasn't playing games—she was using the calculator app to keep score for her favorite game: padel!

Every Saturday, Lily watched the players hit the ball back and forth over the net. She dreamed of having her own racket one day.

But this Saturday was different. Behind the old oak tree, she saw something green and shuffling. It was a zombie! But not a scary zombie—this one had messy purple hair and wore a friendly smile.

"Hi," said the zombie, whose name was Zed. "I love watching padel too. The players look so happy when they hit the ball."

Lily giggled. Zed wasn't scary at all! "Would you like to play with me?" she asked.

Zed's green face lit up. "Oh yes! But I don't have a racket."

Lily had an idea. She used her iphone calculator to add up all the happiness points they'd make together. Then she found an old tennis ball and they started hitting it against the wall.

Zed was amazing! His zombie arms were perfect for padel. He could reach every ball, no matter how far it flew.

Other kids gathered to watch. Soon, everyone wanted to play with the friendly zombie. They made up new rules: extra points for laughter, bonus rounds for silly dances, and double score when someone made a new friend.

That afternoon, Zed taught everyone something important: sometimes the things that seem different or scary are actually just waiting for someone to say hello.

Lily's dad came to pick her up and found something magical—his daughter, a zombie, and ten other kids, all playing padel together, laughing and having the best time.

"Can Zed come back tomorrow?" Lily asked, her hair even messier from running around.

Her dad smiled. "Every Saturday."

And that's how the park's most unusual padel player became its most beloved friend.
