The Zombie Who Loved Padel
In a sunny seaside village, lived a little zombie named Zephyr. But Zephyr wasn't scary at all. He had bright green skin, a friendly smile, and fuzzy orange hair. Every day, he watched children playing padel on the beach court, laughing and hitting the ball back and forth. Zephyr's patchworked heart would ache with loneliness. He wanted to play too, but everyone ran away when they saw him.
One afternoon, Zephyr hid behind a swaying palm tree, peeking at the game. The children's cheers carried on the warm sea breeze. Suddenly, a small padel ball rolled right to his feet. A girl named Luna approached cautiously.
"That's my ball," she said softly.
Zephyr nodded and picked it up. His bony fingers gently placed it in her open palm.
"You're not going to eat my brains?" Luna giggled.
"Brains taste like old socks," Zephyr said honestly. "I much prefer playing sports."
Luna laughed. "Do you know how to play padel?"
Zephyr shook his head sadly.
"I'll teach you!" Luna beamed.
Every day that week, Zephyr and Luna practiced behind the palm tree. Zephyr was surprisingly good—his zombie arms were perfect for powerful smashes. Soon, other children joined them. They discovered Zephyr was kind, funny, and an excellent teammate.
On Saturday, Zephyr finally played his first real game. His palm gripped the padel racket confidently. The crowd cheered as he scored the winning point. Under the golden sunset, surrounded by palm trees and new friends, Zephyr finally felt like he belonged.
Sometimes, the scariest-looking creatures have the kindest hearts. True friendship sees beyond appearances—and everyone deserves someone to play with.
