The Zombie Who Loved Oranges

orangezombierunning

In the middle of Sunnyvale Orchard, where the peach trees whispered secrets to the wind, lived a most unusual creature. His name was Zigg, and he was something the townspeople called a zombie—but Zigg didn't feel like one at all.

While other zombies might have wanted to moan and shuffle through the night, Zigg had a different dream. Every morning, he watched children running through the orchard, their laughter floating like butterflies. How he wished he could join them!

Zigg's problem was that he moved very, very slowly. His feet felt like they were stuck in honey. But what he lacked in speed, he made up for in heart. And his heart belonged to oranges.

Not just any oranges—the magical sunset oranges that grew only in the oldest part of the orchard. Their juice sparkled like tiny stars, and their scent could make anyone smile.

One day, little Mia discovered Zigg's secret hiding spot. She had been running through the orchard playing tag when she spotted him gently cradling an orange.

"You're not scary at all," she said, tilting her head.

Zigg looked down sadly. "I know. I'm not a very good zombie."

Mia laughed—a sound like wind chimes. "Maybe you're not supposed to be! Maybe you're something else entirely."

That gave Zigg an idea. What if he wasn't a zombie, but something new? Something that loved oranges and sunshine and making friends?

"Will you teach me to run?" Zigg asked hopefully.

Mia grinned. "First, we need to fuel up!" She peeled a sunset orange and shared it with him. The moment the sweet juice touched Zigg's lips, something magical happened. His legs felt lighter. His heart felt braver.

Together, they took one step. Then another. Before long, Zigg was running—or at least, his version of running. It looked more like a happy wobble, but it was perfect.

The townspeople were amazed. Their "scary" zombie wasn't scary at all. He was Zigg, the orange-loving friend who taught everyone that sometimes, the most wonderful discoveries happen when you stop being what others expect and start being who you really are.

And every afternoon, you could find Zigg and Mia running through the orchard, sharing magical oranges and proving that friendship is the most powerful magic of all.
