The Zombie Who Loved Orange Popsicles
Lily loved her big floppy hat. It was purple with yellow stars, and she wore it everywhere—even when it wasn't sunny.
One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the swimming pool in her backyard, dangling her feet in the cool blue water. She heard a strange sound behind the bushes. *Scuffle. Drag. Scuffle.*
Lily peeked through the leaves and gasped. A green creature stood there! He had messy hair, patchwork clothes, and the sweetest smile she'd ever seen.
"Hello," said the creature. "I'm Zed. I'm a zombie."
Lily wasn't scared. Zed looked too friendly to be scary. "I'm Lily. Why are you here?"
"I smelled something delicious," Zed said. "Orange. My favorite."
Lily giggled. "You mean my orange popsicle?" She reached into her bag and pulled out two orange popsicles. "Want one?"
Zed's eyes grew wide. He'd never had a friend share with him before. Usually, people ran away when they saw a zombie.
They sat by the pool together, eating orange popsicles and laughing. Zed told Lily about his home in the Magical Forest, where zombies weren't scary at all—they were just misunderstood creatures who loved bright colors and sweet treats.
"Why don't people give you a chance?" Lily asked, finishing her popsicle.
"They see the outside and forget to look inside," Zed said sadly. "They don't know I love dancing and painting and helping friends."
Lily had an idea. She took off her purple hat and placed it on Zed's head. It fit perfectly!
"Now you look like any other kid," she said. "Together, we can show everyone that zombies can be wonderful friends."
And that's exactly what they did. Lily and Zed played by the pool every day, eating orange popsicles and showing everyone that true friendship comes from the heart—not from how someone looks.
MORAL: Never judge someone by their appearance. The best friends sometimes come in the most surprising packages.
