The Zombie Who Loved Orange Lightning

Leo loved his stuffed zombie toy, Zombles, even though everyone else thought zombies were scary. Zombles had bright orange stitching and a goofy smile instead of a frightening one.

One magical evening, an orange lightning storm swept through Leo's town. The lightning wasn't yellow or white like regular lightning — it glowed with the warm, golden-orange color of sunset and pumpkins.

When the orange lightning struck the old oak tree outside Leo's window, something extraordinary happened. Zombles began to wiggle! His plushy fingers stretched, his button eyes blinked, and his stitched-on smile widened.

"Hello, Leo!" Zombles said in a friendly, creaky voice. "The orange lightning brought me to life!"

Leo's eyes sparkled with wonder. "You're not scary at all!"

"Of course not!" Zombles chuckled. "I'm a friendship zombie, not a spooky one. I was waiting for orange lightning to wake me up so we could have adventures together!"

All night long, they danced in the orange-glowing rain and helped garden flowers stand tall after the storm. They discovered that the orange lightning had given Zombles magical powers — he could make anything grow and glow with sunshine!

"You know," Leo whispered as the sun began to rise, "I'm glad you're my friend, Zombles. You taught me that things aren't always what they seem. Even zombies can be wonderful!"

"And you taught me," Zombles replied, "that friendship is the most powerful magic of all."

As morning came, Zombles became a stuffed toy again. But now, whenever orange lightning flashed during summer storms, Leo would smile, knowing his magical friend was always ready for their next adventure.
