The Zombie Who Loved Orange Blossoms
In the sleepy town of Willow Creek, lived a little zombie named Zeb. But Zeb wasn't like other zombies you might imagine. He didn't groan or stumble around looking for brains. Instead, Zeb loved two things more than anything: gardening and his lucky red hat.
Every morning, Zeb would put on his favorite hat—it was bright red with a yellow star on the front—and head to his garden. While other zombies slept during the day, Zeb was busy planting seeds, watering flowers, and singing silly songs to make his plants grow tall.
One sunny afternoon, Zeb noticed something sad. His beautiful orange tree wasn't growing any oranges, even though it was the perfect time of year. The leaves drooped, and the branches looked lonely. Zeb's green face crinkled with worry.
"What's wrong, little tree?" he asked, patting its trunk.
That night, when the moon rose high, Zeb had an idea. He called all his zombie friends for a meeting. They came crawling and shuffling, wondering what Zeb wanted.
"We need to help my orange tree!" Zeb announced, adjusting his lucky hat. "Tonight, we're going to give it the best gift ever—a zombie lullaby!"
The other zombies looked confused. "Zombies don't sing," grumbled Grumble, the grumpiest zombie in town.
"This zombie will!" Zeb said bravely.
And so, under the twinkling stars, Zeb and his zombie friends gathered around the orange tree. At first, their singing was terrible—groans and moans that sounded like rusty gates. But Zeb kept going, his voice growing stronger and sweeter. He sang about sunshine, about rain, about how oranges were like little drops of sunshine hanging from branches.
Something magical happened. The other zombies joined in, and soon their song became beautiful—a soft, humming melody that made the night air shimmer. The orange tree's leaves perked up. Its branches stretched toward the moonlight.
When morning came, Zeb couldn't believe his eyes. His orange tree was covered in tiny orange blossoms! Within weeks, big, juicy oranges grew, sweeter than any in Willow Creek.
The town's children came to taste Zeb's magical oranges, and he shared every single one. The other zombies learned that sometimes, being different and kind could create the most wonderful magic.
And Zeb? He still wore his lucky red hat every day, knowing that the best magic doesn't come from being scary—it comes from caring, friendship, and believing that even zombies can make orange trees bloom with just a little bit of heart.
