The Zombie Who Loved Orange

zombieorangewatervitaminhat

In the twisted branches of the ancient Whispering Woods lived Zed. But Zed wasn't scary at all. He was a zombie, yes, but the friendliest one you'd ever meet. His green skin was soft like moss, and instead of saying "brains," he said "books!"

Every morning, Zed would put on his favorite hat—a bright purple top hat with patches sewn on by the forest animals. It was magical, gifted by the Moon Owl herself. The hat made Zed's eyes sparkle like stardust.

"Time to collect my oranges!" Zed would cheer, skipping through the morning mist.

Zed loved everything orange. Orange flowers, orange leaves, and especially the giant oranges that grew in the secret grove. He'd gather them in his wicker basket, humming tunes that made the butterflies dance.

One day, Zed met Lily, a girl who had wandered into the woods. She was scared at first—zombies were supposed to be scary! But Zed tipped his purple hat and offered her an orange.

"I'm Zed," he said softly. "Would you like some special orange water?"

Lily was confused. "Orange water?"

Zed led her to a crystal spring where orange blossom petals floated on the surface. "This water holds magic," he explained. "One sip makes you brave. Two sips make you kind. Three sips make you a friend forever."

Lily drank three sips. She felt warm inside, like sunshine on a winter day.

"But why are you a zombie?" she asked.

Zed smiled sadly. "Long ago, I was greedy and selfish. The forest spirit turned me into a zombie to teach me kindness. Every day, I must take my special vitamin—one drop of morning dew mixed with orange juice—to remember that true happiness comes from giving, not taking."

Lily gasped. "That's not a vitamin! That's a lesson!"

"Exactly," Zed winked. "And today, my lesson is complete."

As the sun set, Zed began to glow. His green skin turned pink, his mossy touch became warm, and he transformed back into a little boy—exactly Lily's age.

"Thank you for being my friend," he said. "That was the real cure."

Hand in hand, they walked out of the woods, both wearing purple hats, both carrying oranges, both knowing that kindness is the strongest magic of all.
