The Zombie Who Loved Moonlight Pools
Lily's brown hair always curled into wild ringlets that bounced when she ran. Every night, she'd sneak to the secret forest pool behind her house—a magical place where the water glowed like liquid silver.
One full moon night, Lily heard something. "Groooaaan." She hid behind an old oak tree.
Out from the shadows shuffled a greenish figure with messy black hair. It moved slowly, arms stretched forward. Lily gasped—a zombie!
But then the zombie stopped at the pool's edge and sighed happily. It sat down, dipped its feet in the glowing water, and began humming a pretty melody.
Lily crept closer. The zombie looked up with sad silver eyes. "Hello?"
"You... you're not scary?" Lily asked.
The zombie shook its head. "I'm Zim. Everyone runs away because I look different."
Lily sat beside Zim. "I'm Lily. Your hair is nice."
Zim smiled, and its green skin shimmered blue. "This pool is magic. See?" It splashed water at Lily, and her brown hair turned rainbow-colored!
Lily laughed and splashed back. Zim's black hair turned pink with purple stripes.
They played until sunrise, splashing and giggling as the magical pool changed their hair colors again and again—gold, silver, emerald, ruby.
"You're my best friend now," Zim said. "Even if I am a zombie."
Lily hugged Zim. "Being different doesn't matter. Friends are friends."
Every full moon after that, Lily and Zim met at their magical pool. And anyone who called Zim scary? They'd splash them with rainbow water until they learned better.
Because magic isn't just about glowing pools and color-changing hair. The real magic is friendship—and never judging someone by how they look.
