The Zombie Who Loved Lightning Bugs
Zane wasn't like other zombies. While his zombie friends stumbled around saying "brains," Zane loved to read books and write poems. His green skin was covered in colorful freckles, and instead of messy hair, he carefully braided his purple locks every morning.
One rainy afternoon, Zane spotted something amazing through his window—a golden dog with wings, dancing in the puddles! The dog's name was Sparky, and he had fallen from the clouds during a storm. "I'm stuck," Sparky woofed sadly. "My lightning cable broke, and I can't fly back to the sky kingdom without it."
Zane's heart went out to the magical pup. "I'll help you!" he promised. Together they searched through Zane's attic, filled with his great-grandpa's treasures. They found old clocks, dusty maps, and a collection of buttons, but no lightning cable.
Then Zane had an idea. His zombie friend Bella loved making things from found objects. Maybe she could help! Zane and Sparky hurried through the misty forest to Bella's house. Her messy hair was full of colorful ribbons and flowers.
"A lightning cable!" Bella gasped. "I've never made one, but I know what to do!" She gathered shiny metal from old radios and sparkly thread from fairy dresses. With Zane holding everything steady and Sparky watching with hopeful eyes, Bella worked her magic.
Just as she finished, the sky darkened. Real lightning flashed across the clouds! "It's now or never!" Bella cried. She connected her handmade cable to a nearby cloud, and golden energy flowed through it.
Sparky grabbed the cable with his teeth and—WHOOSH!—shot into the sky like a shooting star. But before he disappeared, he dropped something special: a beautiful lightning feather that glowed softly.
"Thank you!" Sparky's voice echoed from above. "Come visit anytime!"
That night, Zane realized something wonderful: being different was his greatest strength. His zombie friends might not understand, but with creativity and kindness, even a zombie who loved poetry could make magic happen.
And every evening since, Zane sits on his roof watching for his friend Sparky, the lightning feather glowing bright in his pocket, a reminder that the best adventures begin with helping someone in need.
