The Zombie Who Loved Lightning

zombielightningpool

Emma loved the old swimming pool at the bottom of her garden. It had been empty for years, but on rainy nights, it filled with something magical — raindrops that sparkled like tiny stars.

One stormy evening, Emma crept outside to watch the pool. Suddenly, lightning flashed across the sky! That's when she saw him — a lumpy green figure shuffling near the pool's edge.

Emma wasn't scared. She had read enough books to know that not all monsters were bad.

"Hello!" she called.

The figure jumped. His skin looked like moss, and one eye drooped sleepily. "Oh! You can see me? Everyone always runs away."

"I'm Emma," she said. "What's your name?"

"Zim," the creature said, scratching his mossy head. "I'm a zombie, but not the scary kind. I'm a garden zombie. I help things grow."

Another bolt of lightning crackled, and the pool began to glow. Emma gasped. Every time lightning struck, the water shimmered with colors — blue, green, purple!

"The lightning feeds the magic," Zim explained happily. "This is a Lightning Pool. It only glows during storms. Watch!"

Zim waded into the glowing water and started to dance. The lightning made his mossy skin sparkle like emeralds. Emma laughed and joined him, splashing in the magical rainwater.

They played until the storm passed, watching the light show. When the sun came out, Zim became invisible again.

"Will you come back?" Emma asked.

"Every storm!" Zim promised. "And now you're my friend. Friends don't need to see each other to be close."

Emma skipped back to her house, warm and happy. She couldn't wait for the next thunderstorm. Sometimes, the scariest-looking things turn out to be the most wonderful of all.
