The Zombie Who Loved Green
Zara was not like other zombies. While her friends shuffled around looking for brains, Zara shuffled around looking for vegetables. She loved them all — carrots, peas, broccoli — but her absolute favorite was spinach.
"Yuck!" groaned her best friend Zephyr when he saw her munching on a leafy green snack. "Real zombies don't eat spinach!"
Zara just smiled, her green eyes twinkling like little stars. "Maybe real zombies should try it sometime. It makes me feel strong!"
One stormy afternoon, while lightning flashed across the purple sky like cracks in a giant's mirror, Zara discovered something amazing. Behind the old abandoned house at the end of Pumpkin Lane, there was a glowing pool. But this wasn't just any pool — the water shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow, and tiny sparkles danced across its surface like fairy dust.
"Wow," Zara breathed.
Suddenly, the pool spoke! Its voice sounded like wind chimes and ocean waves mixed together. "I am the Pool of Possible Dreams. I grant one wish to anyone pure of heart."
Zephyr had followed his friend. "A wish!" he gasped. "I wish for... for..." He couldn't think of anything.
Zara knew exactly what she wanted. "I wish that all the children in the world would love eating healthy food, especially spinach!"
The pool swirled and sparkled even brighter. "Your wish shows how kind you are — you want to help others, not just yourself. But first, you must prove your courage."
A giant spinach plant grew from the pool's edge, towering over them. "Climb to the top," the pool challenged.
Zara's knees trembled, but she grabbed a leaf and pulled herself up. Zephyr, seeing his friend's bravery, climbed right behind her. When they reached the top, lightning struck the plant, and instead of hurting them, it filled them with magical energy.
They slid down together, laughing as they splashed into the glowing water.
"Your wish is granted!" the pool announced. "And because you showed such courage and friendship, here's a bonus wish."
Zara looked at Zephyr. "What do you think?"
"I wish," Zephyr said thoughtfully, "that zombies could be friends with everyone — humans, monsters, whoever!"
The pool bubbled happily. "Both wishes shall come true!"
From that day on, children everywhere discovered how delicious vegetables could be, and zombies like Zara and Zephyr became the best friends anyone could ever have. Zara had learned something important: being yourself, even when you're different from everyone else, is the bravest thing you can be. And true friends will always climb right beside you, no matter how tall the spinach plant grows.
