The Zombie Who Loved Green

palmspinachfriendzombie

Lily loved her grandmother's magical garden, especially the swaying **palm** tree where she sat to read. One day, she noticed something strange—a green figure stumbling between the tomato plants. It was a **zombie**! But this zombie didn't want brains. It wanted... **spinach**?

"Please," the zombie croaked, reaching for a leaf. "I'm not scary. I'm just hungry."

Lily's fear melted away. She handed the zombie a fresh spinach leaf. His green skin shimmered as he ate, and his dull eyes brightened.

"I'm Zev," he smiled. "A wizard's curse made me this way. Only garden vegetables can break it."

Every afternoon, Lily became Zev's **friend**, bringing him different vegetables. Carrots made his fingers wiggle. Peas made him dance. But spinach—that made his heart glow like emeralds.

"Why spinach?" Lily asked one day.

"Because spinach grows strong in any weather," Zev said. "Like true friendship."

The garden animals agreed. Squirrels brought him nuts. Birds sang him awake. Even the grumpy old garden gnome nodded in approval.

On the last day of summer, Zev's transformation complete, he showed Lily his secret—he could now grow magical vegetables by simply touching the ground.

"For you," he said, creating an eternal spinach patch that would never fade. "So you'll never forget your zombie friend."

Lily learned that kindness can turn monsters into friends, and that the most magical things often come from the most unexpected places. Now, whenever she sees the palm tree sway, she waves—because somewhere, in a garden not so far away, a zombie might be eating spinach and smiling too.
