The Zombie Who Loved Baseball
Lily had the most wild and wonderful hair in her whole neighborhood. It curled and bounced like magical springs, always messy but always happy. One sunny afternoon, she was playing catch in her backyard with her favorite baseball when something extraordinary happened.
The baseball flew over the fence and landed with a soft plop in the mysterious garden next door. Lily's iPhone, which she'd left on the grass, suddenly began to glow with sparkly blue light! When she picked it up, a friendly face appeared on the screen — a green, smiling zombie named Zed.
"Don't be scared!" Zed said through crackly magical speakers. "I've been watching you play. Do you think... maybe I could join your baseball game?"
Lily's eyes widened with wonder. She had never met a real zombie before, especially not one who loved baseball! Zed climbed out from behind the old oak tree, his movements slow and gentle. He wasn't scary at all — he was just lonely.
"I used to play baseball every day before I became a zombie," Zed explained sadly. "Nobody wants to play with me now because I look different."
Lily's curly hair bounced as she shook her head. "That's not fair! Baseball is for everyone."
She handed Zed her baseball glove, and his green face lit up with joy. They played until the sun set, laughing and running. Zed could throw the ball surprisingly well!
"I can come back tomorrow?" Zed asked hopefully.
"Every day!" Lily promised. "And I'll bring my friends too."
That night, as Lily brushed her wild hair, she smiled at her reflection. Sometimes the most unexpected friends turn out to be the best ones — and she had learned that kindness matters much more than how someone looks.
