The Zombie Who Loved Baseball

Leo's favorite thing was baseball. Every afternoon, he'd grab his glove and head to the park, running so fast his sneakers barely touched the ground. But today, something strange happened.

The sky turned purple as the sun set, and sparkly mist swirled around the old baseball diamond. Leo wasn't scared. He loved mysteries.

Then he saw it—a zombie!

But this zombie wasn't scary. He was green and fuzzy, with big friendly eyes and a smile like a crescent moon. He wobbled toward Leo, clutching a dusty old padel tennis paddle.

"Play?" the zombie asked shyly.

Leo's eyes widened. "You want to play baseball with... a padel?"

The zombie nodded enthusiastically. "Best I could find. Been watching you for weeks. You're amazing."

Leo grinned. "I'm Leo. What's your name?"

"Zee," said the zombie. "Short for Zombie. But I prefer Zee."

They played until stars filled the sky. Zee wasn't very good, but he tried so hard that Leo laughed until his sides hurt. The zombie ran after every ball, tripping over his own feet, but never giving up.

"You're the best friend I've ever had," Zee said, sitting on the bench as the moon rose.

Leo smiled. "You're pretty great too, Zee. Even if you use a padel instead of a bat."

Suddenly, Zee began to fade, becoming transparent as mist.

"I have to go now," Zee whispered. "But I'll always remember this. Thank you for seeing me, not just a zombie."

"Wait!" Leo called. "Will I see you again?"

"Every night at twilight," Zee's voice floated on the wind. "And every time you hit a home run, know I'm cheering for you."

The next morning, Leo found something near home plate—a smooth stone shaped like a heart. He picked it up, knowing some friendships are magical, even if they don't last forever.

And every evening at twilight, Leo ran to the baseball field, ready for another game with his special friend. After all, the best friends are the ones who remind us that kindness is the greatest magic of all.
