The Zombie Who Loved Baseball

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every evening after school, he'd practice pitching in his backyard, dreaming of the day he'd hit a home run. His mom always laughed and said, "You've got baseball in your blood!"

One magical twilight, as Leo tossed his ball high into the purple sky, something strange happened. The ball didn't come down. Instead, a grumpy little zombie popped up from behind the garden fence!

"I'm Zomble," the zombie said, slowly and wobbly. "And I'm supposed to be scary, but I'd much rather play baseball."

Leo's eyes grew wide. "You want to play? But... you're a zombie!"

Zomble shrugged. "Even zombies need fun. Being scary is exhausting work."

Just then, Farmer Gable's giant bull, Barnaby, trotted over. Barnaby was the friendliest bull in the whole county, with a red ribbon tied around each horn.

"I heard baseball," Barnaby mooed happily. "Can I play too?"

Leo giggled. "Sure! But first, we need a team."

That night, under twinkling stars, the most unusual baseball game began. Zomble moved slowly at first base, Barnaby used his big nose to hit home runs, and Leo pitched magical balls that glowed like fireflies.

But Zomble had wild, green zombie hair that kept flopping over his eyes. "I can't see the ball!" Zomble complained.

Leo's little sister Bella skipped outside carrying ribbons and bows. "I can help!" she said cheerfully.

Bella braided Zomble's messy green hair into tiny pigtails with colorful ribbons. Zomble looked ridiculous but delighted.

"Now I can see!" Zomble cheered, catching Leo's pitch.

They played until the moon climbed high in the sky. Leo learned something wonderful that night: friends come in all shapes and sizes, even zombie-sized and bull-sized. The best games aren't about winning—they're about including everyone who wants to play.

As dawn approached, Zomble shuffled back toward the fence. "Same time tomorrow?"

"Absolutely!" Leo grinned.

And every night after that, under the same magical stars, Leo, Zomble, Barnaby, and Bella played the most wonderful baseball games anyone had ever seen. Sometimes the most extraordinary friends are the ones you least expect.
