The Zombie Who Loved Baseball
Lily wandered through the whispering forest, her favorite **baseball** glove tucked safely in her pocket. She loved the game more than anything, but she had no one to play with. All the other kids in her neighborhood were too busy to notice the quiet girl with the bright smile.
Then she saw him—a green figure with wild, messy **hair** that stuck up like he'd been struck by lightning a hundred times. Lily gasped, but the figure just waved shyly.
"I'm Zom," he said softly. "I'm a **zombie**, but don't worry. I don't eat brains. I eat strawberries and catch fireflies."
Lily giggled. She had never met a zombie who loved strawberries before!
From behind an enormous oak tree emerged a massive **bear** with shaggy brown fur. "This is my best friend, Barney," Zom said proudly. "He's a little clumsy, but he has the biggest heart in the whole forest."
Barney waved his paw and gave a friendly rumble.
"Do you... know how to play baseball?" Lily asked hesitantly.
Zom's eyes lit up like magic stars. "I've watched children play from behind the trees. I know everything about it! But no one ever wanted to play with a zombie before."
Lily smiled her biggest smile. "Well, you have a friend now. And Barney too!"
They spent the whole magical afternoon playing baseball in the sun-dappled clearing. Zom threw the ball with surprising gentleness, Barney chased after every hit (even though most flies sailed over his head), and Lily taught them both how to slide into home plate. Zom's wild **hair bounced as he ran the bases, laughing.
As sunset painted the sky in purple and gold, Lily realized something wonderful: true friends aren't the ones who look just like you—they're the ones who play with you, laugh with you, and make every day feel like magic. And sometimes, the best teammates are a zombie with messy hair and a bear who can't catch at all.
