The Zombie Who Loved Baseball
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every summer evening, he'd practice in his backyard, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But tonight, something magical happened.
As Leo gripped his favorite baseball tight in his palm, it began to glow! A soft golden light spread across his backyard, transforming it into a magical field under twinkling stars.
"Hello?" Leo called out.
From behind an enchanted tree stepped a zombie — but not a scary one. This zombie wore a colorful baseball cap and a friendly smile. His green skin sparkled like emeralds in the moonlight.
"I'm Zed," the zombie said shyly. "I've watched you play for months. You're amazing."
Leo was surprised. "You like baseball?"
"I love it!" Zed's eyes lit up. "But everyone runs away when they see me. They think I'm scary."
Leo looked at Zed's kind face and noticed something in his open palm — a small, glowing baseball drawn there, like a magical tattoo. "You're not scary," Leo said. "You're just lonely."
Zed nodded. "Will you play with me?"
That night, Leo and Zed played the most magical game ever. Zed wasn't just good — he was extraordinary! When he hit the ball, it rainbow-colored through the sky. When he caught it, sparkles trailed behind his hands.
"Why are you so good?" Leo asked.
Zed held up his palm with the glowing baseball mark. "This appears on anyone who truly loves the game. Magic finds magic."
They played until sunrise, becoming the best of friends. Leo learned something important that day: never judge someone by how they look. True friends are found in the most unexpected places.
Every summer evening now, Leo and Zed play baseball together. And sometimes, if you look closely at the right field under the stars, you might just see a glowing baseball arcing through the sky, leaving a trail of rainbow magic behind it.
After all, the best teammates aren't always the ones you expect — sometimes they're the ones everyone else was too afraid to meet.
