The Zombie Who Loved Baseball

zombiespybaseball

Max loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he'd practice hitting in his backyard, dreaming of becoming a famous player. One day, he hit the ball so hard it sailed over the fence into the spooky house next door.

Nobody had lived there for years—or so Max thought. But now he saw strange movement in the windows. Something green and shuffling. Something that looked exactly like a zombie!

Max's heart raced, but he couldn't lose his lucky baseball. It had been a birthday gift from Grandpa. So Max decided to be a spy. He crept through the bushes, wearing his sunglasses backwards and using a stick to "scan" the area like real spies did in movies.

"Zombie alert," he whispered into his walkie-talkie (which was really just a banana). "Proceeding with caution."

The back gate creaked open. There it was—the zombie! It groaned and shuffled toward him, arms outstretched. Max squeezed his eyes shut.

"I just want my baseball," he squeaked.

"Baseball?" The zombie's voice sounded surprisingly kind. "You mean this one?"

Max opened his eyes. The zombie was holding out his lucky ball! But as Max looked closer, he noticed something. The green skin was actually face paint. The tattered clothes were just an old costume.

"I'm Mrs. Green," the zombie said, wiping off some paint. "I used to play professionally! I was practicing my Halloween costume when your ball came over. Want to see my trophy collection?"

Max's eyes went wide. Mrs. Green wasn't a zombie at all—she was a baseball legend! She'd hit 473 home runs in her career.

"I've been looking for someone to practice with," she said. "Would you like to learn my secret swing?"

Max grinned bigger than he'd ever grinned before. Sometimes, the scariest adventures lead to the best friends. And the best spy missions aren't about catching bad guys—they're about discovering wonderful surprises.

That afternoon, Max learned that things aren't always what they seem, and that baseball friendships can happen in the most unexpected ways. Even with zombies.
