The Zombie Who Loved Baseball
In the sleepy town of Willow Creek, something magical happened every summer afternoon. Children gathered at the old baseball field, their laughter floating like butterflies on the warm breeze. But high on the hill behind the field lived someone very lonely.
Zee was a zombie, but not the scary kind from movies. He was green and gentle, with eyes like polished emeralds and a heart that glowed golden when he was happy. Zee had a secret dream: he wanted to play baseball more than anything in the world.
Every day, Zee would peek through the fence, watching the children hit home runs and slide into bases. "I wish I could play too," he sighed, and a single sparkling tear rolled down his cheek. When the tear touched the grass, it didn't make mud—it turned into a tiny puddle of magical, glowing water.
One afternoon, a girl named Lily spotted Zee watching them. Instead of running away, she walked right up to the fence. "Hi," she said with a smile. "I'm Lily. What's your name?"
"I'm Zee," the zombie whispered. "But you probably don't want to talk to me. Everyone says zombies are scary."
"You don't look scary," said Lily. "You look lonely. Do you want to play baseball with us?"
Zee's eyes grew wide. "Really? But I have a problem. When I get too excited, everything I touch turns into magical water!"
Lily thought for a moment, then grinned. "That's not a problem—that's a SUPERPOWER! You could be the Splash King!"
The other children gathered around, and instead of being scared, they were amazed. Zee showed them his special talent: when he got excited about a great play, sparkling water would bubble up from the ground, creating fountains that rained down like diamond confetti.
They played the most wonderful baseball game that afternoon. Whenever Zee got excited about a hit or a catch, magical water would dance around the field, cooling everyone off on the hot summer day. The children laughed and splashed, realizing that being different wasn't bad at all—it was magical.
From that day on, Zee was no longer the lonely zombie on the hill. He was the Splash King, the best friend any baseball team could ever ask for. And every time they played together, the magical water reminded them all of something important: friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and sometimes the most wonderful friends are the ones you least expect.
