The Zombie Who Loved Baseball

zombierunningbaseball

Leo loved two things: running fast and playing baseball. Every Saturday, he'd grab his glove and sprint to the park, his feet pounding the dusty path like happy drumbeats.

One Saturday, something peculiar happened. As Leo rounded third base, he saw a green figure shuffling near the old oak tree. It looked like a zombie from his storybooks, but instead of looking scary, the zombie looked sad. Its skin was minty-green, and it wore an old-fashioned baseball cap.

"Hello?" Leo called, slowing his running to a careful walk.

The zombie pointed at Leo's baseball. "Play... ball?" it rasped, its voice sounding like autumn leaves crunching.

Leo's eyes widened. This zombie didn't want brains—it wanted to play! He tossed the ball gently. The zombie's awkward movements transformed as it caught the ball. Suddenly, it wasn't shambling anymore. It was running, leaping, catching with surprising grace.

"I'm Zed," the zombie smiled, revealing friendly teeth. "I've watched children play for fifty years. I always wanted to join."

From that day on, Leo and Zed became best friends. They played baseball every Saturday—Leo's quick running complemented Zed's surprising catching skills. The other children weren't scared when they learned Zed only wanted to play. Sometimes, the best friends come from the most unexpected places.

Moral: Don't judge someone by how they look—give them a chance, and you might find a wonderful friend.
