The Zombie Who Lived in a Phone
Emma sat by the pool, dangling her feet in the cool water. It was a hot summer day, perfect for swimming. But Emma was more interested in her iPhone, playing her favorite game.
Suddenly, SPLASH! The phone slipped from her wet hands and plunged into the blue water.
"No!" Emma cried. She reached in, but something magical happened. The pool water began to glow with twinkling lights. Bubbles rose to the surface, popping with tiny sparkles.
Then, a hand emerged from the water—a greenish hand with friendly purple spots.
Emma gasped, but she wasn't scared. The creature that climbed out of the pool looked like a zombie, but not a scary one. This zombie had bright pink hair, wore a rainbow swimsuit, and had the biggest, kindest eyes Emma had ever seen.
"Hello!" the zombie said in a bubbly voice. "I'm Zim! And I think this belongs to you."
Zim held up Emma's iPhone, which was completely dry.
"Thank you!" Emma exclaimed. "But... you're a zombie. Aren't zombies supposed to be scary?"
Zim laughed, a sound like popcorn popping. "Not me! I'm the Friendly Pool Zombie. I live in the magical water beneath ordinary pools. I collect things people drop so they don't get lost forever. Look!"
She showed Emma a collection of treasures: glittery sunglasses, a rubber ducky, a shiny marble, and a plastic pirate sword.
"Want to see my underwater castle?" Zim asked excitedly.
Emma nodded. Zim took her hand, and together they jumped into the pool. But instead of swimming, they floated down into a magical world where fish wore tiny hats and seaweed grew in rainbow colors.
They played for hours, having the most wonderful adventure. When it was time to go back, Zim gave Emma a special seashell.
"Whenever you want to visit, just drop this in the pool," Zim said. "True friends are never far away."
Emma climbed out of the pool, her iPhone in one hand and the magical seashell in the other. She waved goodbye to her new friend, already planning her next visit to the magical water world.
That night, Emma learned something important: sometimes, what seems like a bad accident can turn into the best adventure. And the best friends come from the most unexpected places—even from a splash in a pool.
