The Zombie Who Learned to Swim

In a garden filled with sparkling fireflies, lived a zombie named Zed. But Zed wasn't scary at all. He was bright green with curious purple eyes, and all he really wanted was a friend.

Every day, Zed watched children playing by the crystal-blue pond. They would splash and laugh while swimming, but Zed was too afraid to join. Zombies don't like water, he thought. I'll just watch from behind my favorite spinach plant.

One sunny afternoon, a girl named Lily noticed Zed peeking through the spinach leaves. Instead of running away, she waved hello. "Are you lonely?" she asked.

Zed nodded slowly. "Nobody wants to be my friend. I'm too different."

"I'll be your friend!" Lily smiled. "And guess what? I'm teaching swimming lessons. Want to learn?"

Zed shook his head. "Zombies can't swim. We're too heavy."

Lily thought for a moment. Then she plucked a leaf from the spinach plant. "You know what makes spinach strong? It drinks lots of water! Maybe you're like spinach — you just need to believe you can float!"

Something magical happened. As Zed stepped into the water, he didn't sink. Instead, he discovered that he could swim beautifully! His green skin shimmered like emeralds, and he felt lighter than ever. The other children cheered, and soon Zed was swimming races and having the best adventure of his life.

That evening, Zed sat by the pond with his new friends, sharing a spinach salad Lily had made. "I learned something important," Zed said. "Being different isn't bad. It just means you have your own special magic."

And from that day on, Zed was never lonely again. He had friends, he could swim, and he even learned to love spinach. Sometimes the most unexpected friendships are the most wonderful ones.
