The Zombie Who Learned to Run

Lily loved playing padel on the sunny court behind her house. The racquet felt perfect in her hands, and she loved the satisfying *thwack* when the ball bounced off the wall. But today, something strange shuffled through the garden gate.

It was Zog, the neighborhood zombie. He moved slowly, his arms dangling like wet noodles, his eyes half-closed. All the children were scared of Zog. But Lily noticed something—Zog wasn't groaning like the stories said. He was sighing, a lonely, tired sound.

"What's wrong?" Lily asked, standing her ground.

Zog looked up sadly. "I have no energy. I haven't found my special vitamin in one hundred years."

Lily's grandmother had told her about the Star Vitamin—a magical glowing fruit that grew on the highest hill, appearing only when the moon was full. It gave creatures the energy to run, jump, and play.

"I'll help you!" Lily said. She grabbed her backpack, stuffed it with water and granola bars, and together they climbed the winding path up Moonlight Hill. Zog shuffled slowly, but Lily encouraged him every step.

At the top, under the silver full moon, they found it—the Star Vitamin, glowing like a tiny golden sun. Zog took a small bite and—WHOOSH! His eyes widened, his back straightened, and a smile spread across his green face.

"I feel... AMAZING!" Zog shouted. And then he did something no zombie had ever done before—he started running, leaping, dancing!

The next day, Zog joined Lily's padel game. He wasn't scary anymore. He was the best player anyone had ever seen, running across the court like lightning, hitting balls that seemed impossible to reach.

All the children wanted to be his friend. They learned that sometimes, the scariest creatures just need a little help—and a true friend who believes in them.

And every full moon, Lily and Zog climb Moonlight Hill together, running side by side, just for fun.
