The Zombie Who Learned to Play
Zara wasn't like other zombies. While her friends stumbled around the graveyard at night going 'brains... brains...', Zara spent her time watching the children playing in the park beyond the fence. She didn't want to eat their brains — she wanted to play!
One sunny morning, Zara found something glittering in the grass. It was an iPhone, dropped by a careless kid. When she touched it, the screen glowed with magical colors, showing videos of children playing baseball and padel. Zara's green eyes widened with wonder.
'I want to play too!' she whispered.
That afternoon, young Leo spotted Zara peeking through the fence. Most kids would have run away screaming, but Leo was different. He saw that Zara looked sad, not scary.
'Why the long face?' Leo asked, tossing his baseball glove from hand to hand.
Zara shyly explained how she wanted to play but didn't know how. Leo's face lit up. 'I'll teach you! But first...' He pulled something from his backpack. 'You'll need some of this magic spinach. It gives you energy!'
Zara tried the leafy green vegetable. Suddenly, her stiff zombie fingers felt flexible! Her clumsy legs became light as feathers.
Leo taught her to swing a baseball bat, then introduced her to padel at the park's court. The other children watched in amazement as the friendly zombie played alongside them. Zara wasn't scary at all — she was just someone who loved games and fun.
By sunset, Zara had made more friends than she'd ever dreamed possible. She learned that the real magic wasn't in the iPhone or even the spinach — it was in being brave enough to say 'I want to play too' and finding friends who see your heart, not your appearance.
And sometimes, the most unexpected friendships turn out to be the best ones of all.
